On Thursday Tim Taylor set off from Pilot Bay at the Mount on a record breaking 24 hour Ocean paddle in which he covered around 214kms.  The Guinness World Record Ocean paddle had stood at 194.1km since 1986, the year Taylor was born.

There was no doubt that the Tauranga based adventure paddler would cover the distance, but what time was an unknown as Taylor circumnavigated New Zealand (including Stewart Island) back in 2010-12 where he did paddle up to 98km in a single day with a kayak loaded with supplies.
