A few weeks ago Greg(6.30.3), Mary Beth(8.21.9) and myself (7:49.7) had full weekend of racing.  February 27 marked the Snow Row, a 4 mile sprint in our surfskis amongst the rowers. The following day we did the World Indoor Rowing Championships in Boston, Massachusetts along with a few other paddlers from New England: Roger Gocking (7.08.9), Tom Kerr,(7:07.5) Matt Drayer(7.03.3) Chris Sherwood(8.03.9, Lightweight) Thousands of rowers, ergers and fitness buffs come from all over the world to participate in the 2000 meter race. This is the Premier event in the world. Many rowers will clock their best times, some will clock their worst in 13 years(me). Regardless of our times, erging will keep you fit for life. It is perhaps the best single workout there is.   Actually, I believe if you erg twice a week during the paddling/racing season you would remain fit and strong while not losing any strength during the season. However, it is hard to erg when our surfskis are calling our names for open water. Congrats to the above participants.

Very slow time. Over my 12 years I averaged 7:20. 3rd 500m painfully slow! I even lowered the drag factor (resistance) knowing my I would be slower today.

Warmup. Lowered Drag Factor to 101(less resistance) Typically I erg at 112. Today I knew I would be tired from racing the day before.

Roger Gocking pulling an amazing time! Roger is something else. In his 70's Roger still pulls a sub 7:08.
