See the below link to the PDF file that Henning Hansen wrote and illustrated. I posted with Henning’s permission. It is excellent article with some video links by Oscar and Ivan at the end of the article. It is a very good read for the novice to elite.

About Henning

Name: Henning Hansen
Year of birth: 1955
Boat: Nelo 550 ML SCS
Paddle: Brača XI Van Dusen ’92 Surf Ski, 214 / 45

Henning has been paddling in Klampenborg since 1977. The kayak club in Klampenborg was founded in 1917 at the open waters north of Copenhagen and organizes the major Danish surfski event, the Bellevue Ocean Race.

For many years Henning paddled the K1 “touring boat” class, doing local long distance races like Tour de Gudenå and Kronborgløbet, but he was introduced to surfski in 2013 and now paddles his Nelo 550 all year round on Øresund (the waters between Danmark and Sweden) and does ocean races mainly in Denmark and in the south of Sweden, where surfski activity is also in growth.

Henning is currently looking forward to the ICF world championships 2020 in Portugal, where you will see him in the 65+ masters class if everything goes well.
